A Paper Sensor Sleep Mask Developed by a Startup Has Been Released
At the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, Somalytics, a sensor company based in Seattle, is exhibiting a mask that detects eye movement during sleep. The company claims that its SomaSleep mask can track the eye movements associated with REM (rapid eye movement) sleep, which is associated with dreaming and is essential for learning and memory. CEO Barbara Barclay said the device could help people recognize external influences on sleep quality and rapid eye movement.
