A spokesperson for Meta Platforms Inc, Andy Stone, confirmed on Thursday that former U.S. President Donald Trump’s access to Facebook and Instagram has been restored after being suspended for two years following the deadly Capitol Hill riot on January 6, 2021.
In January, Meta stated that it would unban Trump “in the coming weeks,” and that if the former president violated its policies again, he would be banned for between one and two years.
Trump can once again use these channels to communicate with voters and raise money for his 2024 presidential campaign. At the beginning of the year, he had amassed over 23 million Instagram followers and over 34 million Facebook likes.
