Kim Kardashian and Kanye West Reach Divorce Agreement, Splitting Custody 50/50, With West Paying Kim Kardashian $200,000 Per Month in Child Support.
The divorce between Kanye West and Kim Kardashian has been finalized.
TMZ reports that in court documents obtained by the outlet, West and Kardashian agreed to share custody of their four children (North, 9, Saint, 6, Chicago, 4, and Psalm, 3).
Ye will also pay Kim child support of $200,000. He is also obligated to pay for half of the children’s medical and security costs.
Waived Rights to Spousal Support
A source close to the couple told TMZ, “As for property, the division of assets is according to their prenup.” In addition, the prenup states, “Kim and Kanye have each waived their rights to spousal support.”
On Tuesday, the same media outlet reported that Ye had gifted Kim with the $4.5 million home he had just purchased next door. TMZ noted that West still owns a $60 million Malibu beach house in addition to properties in Calabasas, Chicago, Belgium, and Wyoming and that Kim Kardashian West would likely just tear down the home because it needs so much work.
After Kim’s 2014 divorce from Kris Humphries, she and Kanye West tied the knot. After seven years of marriage, Kim filed for divorce from Ye in February 2021.
When asked about the split in an interview with Vogue back in February, Kardashian said she “did what made other people happy” for a long time, meaning her ex-husband.
“For so long,” Kardashian admitted, “I did what made other people happy.” And in the last two years, I think I made up my mind that I would do whatever it took to make myself happy. It’s a great feeling, actually. I think it’s important to be sincere with yourself about what truly makes you happy, even if that results in change and, in my case, a divorce. In the end, I decided to go by myself. It’s fine with me if I pick you up.
After Kim Kardashian went public with their separation a month earlier, Ye followed suit by posting a lengthy poem titled “Divorce” to Instagram in March. The poem arrived just two days after a judge ruled that Kardashian was legally single and gave her permission to revert to her maiden name.
“It’s like full-blown Covid, this divorce thing. Ye’s poem opened, “Divorce feels like your doctor doesn’t know shit.” After a divorce, you may as well be balancing on thin ice. Going through a divorce is like trying to outrun a glass wall. An analogy that comes to mind is being bullied in the school hallway, which is how a divorce can make you feel. Divorce is like getting beaten up in a shopping mall.
