A fresh story claims that Simon Cowell has signed a huge deal with Netflix for a new series that would try to find the next big band.
The 64-year-old music tycoon has made no secret of his desire to follow in the footsteps of his mentored boy band One Direction, who became famous on the 2010 season of X Factor.
The streaming portal is reportedly finalizing negotiations for Simon Cowell: Midas Touch.
According to a source who spoke with The Sun, Netflix is the ideal home for his new show, and Box To Box, the producers, have experience working with Netflix.
“The show has been in the works for a long time, and Simon and his team are finally nearing a final deal.”
The show’s name has caused some confusion among those in the know, which shows how confident Cowell is in his talent-scouting skills.
“Simon knows he is the best at what he does and calling his show Midas Touch gives a new meaning to blowing your own trumpet,” the source continued.
For comment, The Standard has reached out to Simon Cowell’s representative.

Simon Cowell Announces Global Talent Search Ahead of Netflix Deal
Cowell launched the global talent search earlier this month, so news of a possible cooperation with Netflix shouldn’t be surprising.
The dates and times for the auditions are as follows: July 4 and 5, in Newcastle; July 7 and 8, in Liverpool; July 28 and 29, in Dublin; and August 1, 2, and 3 in London.
Weeks after his recent comments about One Direction seemed to disappoint Louis Tomlinson and Niall Horan, who no longer follow him on social media, he is searching for the next great thing.
Cowell is no longer followed by the That’s What Makes You Beautiful singers on Instagram, and the same goes for them on Twitter.
It would appear that Cowell’s involvement on Steven Bartlett’s Diary of A CEO podcast earlier this week has strained relations between Payne, Horan, and himself, which had previously been amicable.
Cowell “regretted” leaving the One Direction moniker behind throughout the conversation.
He made it clear that he cannot benefit from One Direction since even though the group is on hiatus, the members still control the name.
“That’s the problem, could have made an animation or whatever but when you give an artist the name, it’s not yours and that’s my only regret,” he said to the Dragon’s Den contestant.
According to Cowell, if the boys were listening, he would buy their name back. However, I do regret that one thing only. It wouldn’t be an issue if I owned the name; if any member of the band decided they didn’t want to tour, it could prevent the others from doing so.
