In July, Netflix announced that Microsoft would be their only technology and sales partner for their first tier of content that is supported by ads.
Teams from Microsoft and Netflix have been working hard since then to make this new tier happen. Microsoft is happy that Netflix’s Basic with Ads plan, which is cheaper and has ads, was announced today.
With this launch, our missions come to life. Netflix wants to entertain everyone on the planet, and Microsoft wants to help every person and organization on the planet do more.
Together, we’re making a model based on ads that will make it possible for more people around the world to enjoy the entertainment they love.
In November, Basic with Ads will be available in Australia, Brazil, Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Korea, Mexico, Spain, the UK, and the US. In each of these areas, we are working with top advertisers to plan for compelling, relevant, world-class content that is just as entertaining as the programming itself.
Advertisers want to reach Netflix’s huge audience in a high-quality setting, and people will be happy with a high-resolution experience that has only 4-5 minutes of ads per hour, on average.
Microsoft and Xandr’s end-to-end platform is the only one that can handle Netflix’s new Basic with Ads plan. Microsoft is happy about its partnership with Netflix and the new ideas they’ll be able to bring to the market together in the future.
