A press release says that an Arizona tech startup called Boxx has made a contactless alcohol vending machine that lets customers buy and get their own drinks with the touch of a button.
The machine uses an AI platform to make sure the customer is at least 21 years old by matching their face in real time. The process takes less than 15 seconds, and once the customer’s age has been confirmed, they can start shopping.
Lamarr Houston, who used to play for the Oakland Raiders and is now retired, and Lauren Smee started Boxx. The company has been chosen as a portfolio company for Techstars Detroit powered by JP Morgan in 2022.
The company is getting ready for a launch in Arizona, which will include a partnership with a televised event and a placement with a nationwide family entertainment chain.
